Antique Molded Syroco best Wood Scottish Terrier Ink Pot

This charming little fellow was probably made by the Syracuse Ornament Company sometime in the early 1900's. It is made from Syroco Wood, a composition "plastic" developed from wood pulp and used to make decorative woodwork and novelty items. This little Scottish Terrier measures approximately 4 1/4 inches long, 2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall. When I found the ink pot it was covered with crud. I usually don't over clean antiques that have a patina, but this piece was just plain dirty. The color in the pictures is paler than the terracotta shade that it is in reality. As you can also see in the pictures there is a gap where three seams meet; but aside from that, the puppy best is clean and ready for a new home.
