Sterling Silver And best Japanese Akoya Pearl Torii Gate Pin

An unusual Japanese sterling silver and Akoya pearl Torii gate pin. The Torii gate is nicely detailed and is decorated with five Akoya pearls ranging from 3.52 mm to 4.62 mm in width. The Torii gate usually marks the entrance to Shinto shrines and symbolizes the transition between the profane and the sacred. The pin is marked SILVER, maker unknown.

Condition: Excellent/very good. There is patina but I think it adds nice contrast between the pearls and the silver so we did not polish it. There are two tiny dings on the largest pearl and some glue visible at the back of the pearls where they are attached (cannot be seen from the front). best

Approx. measurements: 7/8 inch wide and a bit less than 7/8 inch high. Weight = 2.4 grams.
