Vintage PYREX Flameware Double Boiler 3 Piece No. 6283, best Glass

A wonderful pot for gentle cooking on the stovetop! A double boiler produces a slow, indirect heat that delicate foods such as melting chocolate, sauces, or creme anglaise require.

This mid-century clear glass Pyrex double boiler consists of the bottom, the insert, and lid with finial. Both the insert and the bottom have stainless steel bands attached to glass handles by four screws each.

The lid is embossed with "Pyrex 6283-CC-17"
The insert's ring reads "Stainless 6283" , a flame and the word "Pyrex". The handle is embossed "62-8" and "C10". The bottom is embossed "Pyrex Made in USA 6283 1-1/2 Qt"

The bottom's ring reads "Stainless" "Boil dry or use on electric range without grid will cause breakage" The handle is embossed "62-H" and "C-2", the flame and "Pyrex". The bottom is embossed "Pyrex Made in USA 6283-L 1-1/2 Qt"

Condition: It is in very good used pre-owned condition. Upon careful inspection with a light some pitting was noted on the insert and bottom that does not affect the beauty of the piece. Also noted were some scratches. There is discoloration between the glass and ring of bottom stainless ring that may clean up if the stainless steel ring was removed. I didn't try to clean it leaving it for the buyer if they chose to try to remove the discoloration.
