Quarter bound with brown leather to corners and to the ribbed spine. Gilt tooled decorations to spine, gilt lettering to the black leather title strip. Marbled paper boards to front and rear, marbled end papers and matching marbled page edges to all sides. Previous owners inscription to front fly page, signed William Cooper and dates 1870. Including the original introduction from December 1867 and preface to the first edition. Dedication pages to each poem

Pages are bright with some tanning and spots of tanning present throughout this 153 year old volume. Internal binding is worn, with cracking to some internal hinges including those with boards. A joints are loosening within but still holding to the text block. Leaves pressed within pages

Chipping and rubbing wear to the corners and edges of the boards and spine. Scratching and fading to leather and paper binding, chipping to top and tail of spine and bumping to corners. Sections of loose material around edges and corners, cracking to the leather joint with front board which is starting to split along edges.
